Overview

The Employer Engagement Specialist role collaborates with the Director, career advising, employer engagement teams in creating, managing, and implementing employer engagement programming. Additionally, the Employer Engagement Specialist interacts with external constituents including employers and alumni and offers administrative support to the Director. The position also oversees student office assistants and manages our recruiting platform – Handshake. Ensuring data integrity and maintaining database performance.

 

This is a hybrid position, 3 days a week in the office with the option to work 2 days a week from home. The daily work hours are 8:00 am-4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

Macalester’s Career Exploration offers programs, services and appointments for students. Our team provides tailored career exploration and preparation for students of all majors. Career Exploration is committed to empowering and advising students in their career journey, by fostering connections, building skills, and embracing continuous learning and self discovery.

Responsibilities

Employer Engagement and Program Support:

  • Assists the Director of Employer Engagement to identify and build relationships with local, regional, and national employers in order to provide Macalester students with quality internship and full-time employment opportunities.
  • Manages logistics and provides administrative support for on-campus recruitment activities and employer and alumni related programming including employer tabling, info sessions, career fairs, and other initiatives to ensure a seamless recruiting process on campus.
  • Conducts meetings with employers and external constituents when needed to foster relationship building and to explore opportunities for employers to engage on campus.
  • Fosters positive working relationships with stakeholders across campus and with external constituents 
  • Assists the Director with communicating internship and full-time job opportunities to the career advising team as well as Macalester students.
  • Utilizes a CRM system to track employer contacts, meeting notes, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for communication and relationship management.
  • Coordinates logistics for career treks and coordinates student reimbursements for program participation as needed.
  • Supports initiatives that actively work to eliminate barriers to participation, and consistently participates in professional development that reinforces Macalester's commitment to valuing individuals of all backgrounds and experiences.
  • Provides input and support for employer engagement programming and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversees and responds to the recruiting email inbox. 

 

Data and Technology:

  • Manages recruiting platform (Handshake), including employer and job approvals, providing staff training and troubleshooting problems.
  • Works with the Registrar's Office to ensure data feed to Handshake is accurate and fields are populated correctly.
  • Designs program assessments and student and employer surveys, assists with data collecting, analyzing and reporting of employer engagement activities.
  • Ensures recruiting platform data integrity.
  • Serves as a key point of contact for recruiting platform provider.

 

Student Worker Supervision:

  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and manages time reporting for student office assistants.
  • Serves as the central point of contact to coordinate front desk student staff project assignments.
  • Trains student employees. Develops standard operating procedures in conjunction with Director for Handshake posting approvals and employer communications.
  • Collaborates with Career Advisor to provide professional programming for student employees to ensure our student employment program is a high impact practice.

 

Performs other duties as assigned:

  • Assists with budget tracking and reconciliation.
  • Coordinates inventory, orders, and stocks all office supplies and business development materials for Career Exploration.
  • Represents Career Exploration at campus and community functions.
  • Actively involved in relevant associations and consortia

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent organizational skills for project and event management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including editing and proofreading. 
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient with utilizing software to manage systems and processes (Handshake, Google suite)

 

Compensation:

The hourly wage for this position will be $24.63 - $25.75, depending on experience.
