The Advancement Data Analyst will design and produce accurate, timely, and comprehensive reports, analyses, and data visualizations for Advancement and College leadership.
The Analyst will leverage their expertise in data storytelling to effectively communicate and present key findings, insights, and trends to Advancement colleagues, College leadership, Trustees, and other key stakeholders. Additionally, the Analyst will collaborate with colleagues on the broader Advancement team to define and translate data-related business needs, including alumni engagement; marketing and communications; annual giving (the Macalester Fund); philanthropic giving; planned giving; foundation, government, and corporate relations; donor relations; prospect management and research; gift processing and records management; and college events.
This is a full-time position with a hybrid onsite schedule.
About The Department:
The Advancement team—comprising Communications and Marketing, Development, Engagement, and Advancement Operations—is committed to driving Macalester’s mission forward by ensuring clear, campus-wide communication, creating meaningful opportunities for alumni and friends to participate in the life of the college, and building relationships with donors to secure financial support that aligns with both the college’s mission and the donors’ philanthropic goals. The Data Analyst is part of the Advancement Operations department, and is a member of the Business Intelligence team responsible for managing donor, alumni, parent, and friend data.
Develops and executes reports, dashboards, and visualizations that enable data-driven decision-making; manages Advancement data requests, including those submitted through the Staff Request Management tool in Slate; creates and runs queries in Slate (Macalester’s CRM);creates and maintains dashboards in PowerBI.
Provides in-depth data analysis to understand constituent behavior, to inform marketing segmentation strategies, and to measure the effectiveness of solicitation, acquisition, and retention efforts.
Collaborates with the AVP of Advancement Operations and the Director of Business Intelligence to design reports that track campaign progress against key performance indicators.
Develops, documents, and delivers training modules on the systems used by Advancement. Trains colleagues throughout the College in Slate for Advancement and additional tools deployed by Advancement to support the division’s goal and mission for the College.
Manages documentation for our Slate reports library to facilitate ease of use among colleagues.
Leverages new data sources and modeling techniques to help improve accuracy of revenue forecasts.
Stays abreast of the fundraising landscape and philanthropic sector, including knowledge of donor behavior, engagement strategies, revenue generation techniques, and community centric fundraising, and adapts to evolving technologies and methodologies in the field of data analytics and fundraising.
Compensation:
The annual salary for this position will be $66,000-$69,000, depending on experience.
