Infrastructure Manager

Oversees and manages the infrastructure team, ensuring Macalester’s IT infrastructure is reliable, secure, and efficient. It is responsible for planning, maintaining, and managing the entire infrastructure, including servers, networks, data centers, storage, VoIP, and security measures. An extensive background in technology and computer science, with experience in maintaining and installing IT systems, is a must. 

This is a full-time role with a hybrid weekly schedule (2-3 days in office required) following the initial training period. 

About The Department:
Macalester College's Information Technology Services (ITS) department offers comprehensive services to support the campus community's technological needs. These services include project management, systems consulting, software implementation and maintenance, database management, and data reporting. Additionally, ITS manages the campus network, telecommunications systems, central servers, and information security architecture.

• Develops, implements, and maintains a comprehensive IT infrastructure strategy, aligning with current and future business needs.
• Oversees all IT infrastructure components, including design, deployment, and operation, as well as on-premises and cloud-based solutions.
• Works closely with The Associate Director of Information Security to implement and maintain security measures across Macalester’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, data storage, and applications, to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access, breaches, and cyber threats.
• Manages and maintains disaster recovery plans, ensuring business continuity during disruptions.
• Team Leadership: Hires, trains, develops, and manages the effectiveness of team members to meet college and department goals. Provides informal feedback on an ongoing basis and formal feedback in the annual performance review process to develop talent.
• Completes other responsibilities as assigned. Participates as an active member of the
• team. Participates in department and college activities and supports implementation of shared goals and initiatives. Provides backup support to other members of the team.

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required.
• 3-5 years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with a strong understanding of network topology, servers, and security technologies, is required.
• 3-5 years of experience managing cloud platform services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) is required.
• 3-5 years of proven leadership, managing, and motivating a technical team is required.
• In-depth knowledge of security principles and best practices is preferred.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is $94,072-$98,348 depending on experience.
