Overview

Macalester College, a highly selective liberal arts college, seeks to hire an Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach Tennis Coach to work with the head coach to direct and lead  all phases of a successful and competitive NCAA Division III Program. This is a full-time, twelve month position that reports to the Athletics Director, evening and weekend hours are required.

Responsibilities

 

  • Assists the head coach in the organization, preparation of practices and in conducting safe and strategic individual and team training sessions and competitive strategies. Executes appropriate coaching decisions during practice and competition that ensure the welfare of the student athletes representing their program.
  • Assists the head coach in the development and incorporation of a comprehensive recruiting plan that shows successful results for the recruitment, yield and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes in a rigorous academic environment. Serves as an effective recruiter for the program working within the parameters of Macalester, MIAC and NCAA rules. Recruitment strategy results in healthy roster numbers and a competitive program against scheduled opponents.
  • Assists with the arrangement and supervision of transportation, lodging and meals in connection with off-campus competition. Ensures that the team represents the college at the highest level while off-campus. 
  • Assists the head coach and game management staff with the preparation and event management needs at home competitive events. Assists in the coordination of special events including recruiting, alumni, the Mac Hac, and student-athlete recognition functions.
  • Effectively manages and makes decisions relative to Pcard purchases and any budgetary or financial
  • operations within the program as assigned by the head coach. Follows all institutional protocol as it relates to business policies and ethical financial decisions
  • Completes other responsibilities as  assigned. Participates as an active member of the team. Participates in department and college activities and supports implementation of shared goals and initiatives. Provides backup support to other members of the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • 1-3 years of successful coaching experience required. College coaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in volleyball practice and training modes, competitive strategies and an effective, sustained, and results oriented recruiting program. Creates a positive, organized, and enriching experience for the student athletes and staff involved in the program. General understanding of volleyball metrics and ability to implement them in training and matches. 
  • General proficiency in current office computer technology, including admissions and recruitment software and digital media platforms.
  • Management and organization of recruiting records and all information necessary for the operations of the program.
  • Represent the volleyball program and the institution in a positive manner to alumni, donors, media, and the community. Participate in fundraising activities to support the program's needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, parents, and college staff. 

 

Compensation:

The annual wage for this full-time 0.75 FTE, position will be $37,224-$38,916.
