Overview

The Macalester College Admissions Office seeks multiple Part-Time Remote Admissions Interviewers to support our full-time staff in the interview process for our upcoming application rounds. This position supports full-time staff by conducting interviews with applicants, assessing candidate interview responses, and writing succinct and informative interview review comments to be shared with the Admissions Committee.

 

This position is entirely remote. There are no in-person working hours or assignments. Candidates are expected to work from within the United States and be able to provide their own computer with reliable internet access and audio/video capabilities.

 

The position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Candidates are expected to work at least 15 hours per week from mid-September until February 1st. Part-Time Remote Admissions Interviewers work flexible hours that are set monthly. Interviewers are expected to offer 15 - 20 hour-long interview appointments weekly. These appointments most often occur on nights and weekends. All candidates hired for this position are guaranteed ten weeks of work in 2025 and four weeks of work in 2026.

 

Interview volume and demand are subject to change and influence available hours beyond the above guarantee. Preference will be given to candidates with flexible work schedules and frequent availability on weeknights and weekends. 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Direct experience as a student or staff member at a highly selective liberal arts college preferred. 
  • Direct experience working in college access, college admissions, and/or college counseling is preferred.
  • It is expected that an employee in this role: 
    • Have an appreciation for the value of a liberal arts education
    • Possess knowledge of the overall landscape of selective higher education
    • Are able to work respectfully with sensitive and confidential information 
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity.

 

Compensation:

The hourly wage for this position will be as follows: 

 

Tier 1: New Hire Rate: $20.40

Tier 2: 1 Year Returning Rate: $20.60

Tier 3: 2+ Year Returning Rate:$21.22
