The Macalester College Admissions Office seeks multiple Seasonal Remote Application Readers to support our full-time staff in the application review process for our upcoming application rounds. This position supports full-time staff in reviewing and evaluating admissions applications by assessing candidate materials while synthesizing and writing succinct and informative comments to be shared with the Admissions Committee. Candidates are encouraged to carefully review the description below and include a preference of schedule and availability clearly in their application materials.
This position is entirely remote. There are no in-person working hours or assignments. Candidates are expected to work from within the United States and be able to provide their own computer with reliable internet access and audio/video capabilities.
The position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

Through the committee-based evaluation model, Seasonal Remote Application Readers will work alongside full-time staff via Zoom to:
Scheduling Requirements:
Candidates are expected to work 14-28 hours per week from November until January 30, as well as training and onboarding the week of October 27th. Application readers work full-day shifts between 9:00am CST – 5:00pm CST up to four days per week. All candidates hired for this position will be offered five weeks of work in 2025 and four weeks of work in 2026.
Application volume and demand for admissions application readers is subject to change and influence available hours beyond the above guarantee. Strong preference will be given to candidates with work availability between 9:00am CST – 5:00pm CST on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Candidates may not be: Concurrently employed by or enrolled as a student at Macalester. Concurrently reading applications for another college or university. Working as an independent admissions counselor/consultant.
Compensation:
The hourly wage for this position will be as follows:
Tier 1: New Hire Rate: $20.40
Tier 2: 1 Year Returning Rate: $20.60
Tier 3: 2+ Year Returning Rate:$21.22
Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check is a condition of employment.
