Residential Life is seeking to hire a dynamic Associate Director of Residential Life - Student & Community Support. This position serves as an integral member of the Residential Life leadership team in providing leadership and daily management to a vibrant residential education program in a liberal arts environment. This position supervises Residence Hall Directors and provides department leadership for residential student conduct and residential case management, in close partnership with the Executive Director of Residential Life.    About The Department:  Mission: Residential Life at Macalester College utilizes a student-focused, learning-centered approach to foster resident development, authentic relationships, and inclusive living-communities. We do this through our implementation of LIFE@MAC, community standards, and housing services.   Living on campus is an important part of a Macalester student’s education. Residential Life focuses on the whole student experience as well as fostering learning beyond the classroom setting.  Students are provided numerous opportunities to learn about themselves as well as meet, interact, and develop relationships with others on the floor, building community with those who are different from themselves.  Our goal is to give students a greater understanding of their responsibility to the local, national, and global communities as citizens of the world.   Residential Life at Macalester serves approximately 1300 students in campus housing. Living options include traditional and suite style residence halls, theme houses, language houses, and apartments located above a Grand Avenue restaurant.   - Language Houses: Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish - Specialty Areas: Veggie Co-op, Eco House, All-Gender Community, Interfaith House, Healthy Lifestyles, Arabic House, Cultural House.   All first-year and sophomore students are required to live on-campus. About one fourth of the junior class and one fifth of the senior class also live on campus.   Staffing includes five professional, masters’ degree level Residence Hall Directors (RHD), Assistant Director of Residential Services, two Associate Directors and the Executive Director of Residential Life.  It also includes a student staff of 35 Resident Assistants and 5 Office Assistants, and 4 Programming Assistants.  The RHD team provides 24-hour on-call support to residential communities and trains, coaches, and supervises a team of undergraduate paraprofessionals (Resident Assistants) who are resources, educators, and community builders to our students. RHDs and RAs are also visible and involved members of their residential communities. All members of the staff work in collaboration with students, faculty and staff to provide opportunities, support, and a rewarding living environment to residents.  Office Assistants (OA) are students who provide a welcoming environment in the building in which they’re assigned and offer administrative support to the multiple living communities. Programming Assistants (PAs) develop programming for students in the residence halls.

The Loan Officer oversees administration and collection of Institutional Loan programs. Toward that end, the Loan Officer: accurately completes documentation of loan portfolios; manages entrance, exit, and collection process as well as works collaboratively with the other Loan Officer, the Financial Aid office and other departments on campus. In addition,this role follows federal/state regulations governing the Institutional Loan funds and general lending practices, educates borrowers, works to increase timely repayment of funds, maintains low loan fund default rates, and collaborates with campus colleagues to develop and maintain procedures or processes that meet student needs.   This is a full time (.75 FTE) position that requires onsite 5 days a week with hours 10:00am-4pm.  About The Department:  The Business Services Team fosters responsible stewardship of Macalester’s financial resources through integrity, effectiveness, and innovation. About The Department and Overview:    The Laurie Hamre Center for Health & Wellness offers campus leadership on health promotion and sexual respect, along with integrated medical and counseling services for all students, through  public health and health equity lenses. The Hamre Center serves as a leader and resource for the entire Macalester community’s effort to build a healthy campus. We are dedicated to providing culturally responsive care, support, and resource referrals for all students. Within the Hamre Center, the Health Promotion and Sexual Respect department is dedicated to working within various areas of health and well-being, with particular emphasis on mental health, substance use, and sexual respect. We utilize approaches from public health, higher education, psychology, and sociology, especially the socio-ecological model, to ensure our work goes beyond individual-level knowledge and awareness and supports interpersonal skill development and advocacy for tangible, community-level impacts. We aim to assess, analyze, review, and recommend policies, procedures, and processes to make positive changes at a systemic level: rather than only teaching people how to cope with difficulties, we aim to create a less difficult environment.  We are a collaborative and supportive team, dedicated to empowerment, trust, and treating one another as holistic individuals. The Health Promotion and Sexual Respect team works to promote well-being; a broad task, but one we approach with intentionality and passion.
