The language lab instructor provides Macalester students with supplemental classroom language instruction. In addition, the language lab instructor lives in and co-directs the associated language house and provides students with a resource for cultural study, conversation practice and research.

Macalester College is a highly selective residential liberal arts college in a vibrant urban setting in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Department of Spanish & Portuguese at Macalester College sponsors Casa Hispana, a residence next to campus for students who are interested in living in a Spanish-speaking environment. Residence is intended for those who have achieved at least an intermediate level of proficiency in Spanish and want to maintain and improve their skills. Residents commit to speaking only Spanish while in the house.   Macalester College seeks a mature, energetic, and student-centered Language Lab Assistant/Native Speaker to work in collaboration with The Department of Spanish & Portuguese as a Spanish language laboratory assistant and to manage the daily operations of the Casa Hispana.   This position reports to the Casa Hispana Liaison and the Chair of the Department of Spanish & Portuguese for the labs and curricular duties. Native Speakers also work closely with Residential Life and follow the employment expectations for managing language house residences.

Macalester College’s DeWitt Wallace Library seeks to hire a Research and Instruction Librarian for the Fine Arts and Humanities. This position provides research and instruction services, participates in our first-year course library instruction program, and collaborates with faculty on assignment creation in relation to course-integrated library instruction goals. The person in this position helps support and develop digital scholarship research and projects as part of our cross-campus digital liberal arts team. In addition, the position is active in outreach efforts and works closely with our academic community to ensure that library research and instruction services most effectively support college curricular and scholarly endeavors. The ideal candidate will be service-oriented and enthusiastic about teaching, collaborating, and fostering student success in a liberal arts environment.This position is a member of the Access, Instruction, & Research Services (AIRS) team and reports to the AIRS Associate Library Director.

Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota, is seeking to hire a full-time Interfaith Chaplain and Director of Muslim Life.  Macalester has roots and relationships in the Presbyterian Church and is home to a Chaplaincy that is Multifaith in expression and values.  This position will report to the College Chaplain and Associate Dean and serve as a key strategic partner across campus and offer vision for and implementation of offerings that enrich both Muslim Life and campus wide engagement.  The Interfaith Chaplain and Director of Muslim Life will support the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life mission, which values exploration of wholeness, belonging and purposeful living.  Departmental strategic initiatives are to increase religious literacy, nurture spirituality and support exploration of worldviews.  The Center for Religious and Spiritual Life seeks to nurture growth for all into the fullness of the human family.   The Interfaith Chaplain and Director of Muslim Life has particular responsibilities to serve as the spiritual teacher to Macalester’s ethnically and culturally diverse Muslim population, offering vision and implementation of offerings that align with the departmental mission.  This position will be part of Macalester’s multifaith team which is home to Chaplains who stand in the Buddhist, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Protestant traditions.  A successful candidate will engender support for Macalester’s community, which includes diversity of ability, age, class, gender identity, nationality, race, religion and sexual orientation.

The Graduate Assistant role is vital to our work, signature programs, initiatives, and values.    The OSLE Graduate Assistant provides quality advising, support, and guidance to the student body and Macalester community through programming and advising of on-campus learning and engagement opportunities. The Graduate Assistant collaborates with campus partners, explores new ideas to encourage student leadership development, and leads late night and weekend programming initiatives. This position serves in the campus on call summer rotation.    This position also receives a semi-furnished one bedroom apartment and meal plan.
