The Admissions and Financial Aid Division at Macalester College seeks to hire an Admissions Officer or Assistant Director of Admission. The position performs a broad range of admissions duties including recruitment travel, interviewing prospective students, leading information sessions, evaluating applications for admission, serving on the Admissions Committee and working on other projects as assigned. We have an exciting opportunity as the Chief of Staff for the President & Secretary to the Board of Trustees. This opportunity works with and supports Dr. Suzanne M. Rivera who became Macalester College’s 17th President on June 1, 2020.    The position, Chief of Staff for the President and Secretary to the Board of Trustees, reports directly to the President and supports both the President and the Board of Trustees.  This role serves as the President’s liaison to the Board of Trustees and manages the operation of all Board meetings and related duties. This role oversees the operations of the President’s Office, including the management of budget and staff, and assists the President in project planning, prioritizing and implementation, presidential communications and campus relations.  This role also collaborates closely with the broader Senior Leadership Team in pursuit of organizational objectives.   As a representative of the President, this role interfaces with all members of the Macalester community; alumni, donors, parents, and other stakeholders; dignitaries, visitors and guests; and the general public.   The Chief of Staff will attend weekly Senior Leadership Team meetings and will represent the President as needed in her absence.

Works to improve user experience and accessibility across existing library platforms, including website (WordPress), Libguides (Springshare), collection discovery (WorldCat), and library digital asset management systems. Works closely with the Digital Initiatives & Scholarly Communication Librarian and others to assess, prototype, and implement changes to the library’s digital presence using web authoring tools (e.g., Drupal, WordPress) and web development technologies like HTML and CSS. The Music Department at Macalester College is seeking to hire a Department Coordinator on a full-time (0.80) basis. This role provides general administrative support for the department, working with the department chair and using independent initiative to balance the priorities of the department and individual faculty. It serves as a first point of contact for the department, interacting with students, faculty, staff, and visitors, managing interruptions while working on complex tasks. This role also provides general and vital departmental operations, fiscal monitoring, projects/events, management of confidential information, and supervision of student employees.   This is a full time position, with 38.75 hours per week from mid-August to May commencement. Flexible and fewer hours during the summer.   About the Music Department:  The Music Department at Macalester serves approximately one-third of the college's total student population each year, through a wide variety of courses, 11 ensembles representing numerous musical traditions, and lessons on practically every instrument.  With 10 full- and part-time faculty members, two full-time teaching staff, over 30 studio instructors, some 70 music majors and minors, and a full concert season of ensemble performances, faculty recitals, senior capstone recitals, and numerous guest artists and special events, the Department enjoys playing a highly active role in the creative development of its students, and partnering with the Art and Art History, and Theater and Dance departments to create a thriving academic arts scene in the middle of the Twin Cities metro.  The Music Department believes that the study of music, as a means of exposing people to multiple ways of seeing the world, is an ethical pursuit: a deeper understanding of the world’s many modes of creative expression leads ultimately to a keener awareness of the responsibilities of global citizens.

The Dewitt Wallace Library at Macalester College is seeking to hire an experienced Serials and E-Resources Librarian. This librarian provides expertise in and strategically plans for the future of the serials and electronic resources collections. This individual manages and oversees the serials collection and the serials portion of the budget as well as coordinates activities related to acquiring and providing access to electronic resources. This individual manages, develops and utilizes a number of systems and applications necessary for delivering our collections virtually to library researchers both on and off campus. They collaborate closely with technology staff in the library and throughout Macalester. In addition, the individual in this position participates in outreach activities and works closely with our academic community to ensure that the library collections most effectively and efficiently support college curricular needs and scholarly endeavors.  The Serials and Electronic Resources Librarian is a member of the Collection Development and Discovery team.    About the Dewitt Wallace Library:  The Library supports the mission of the College by providing the scholarly information services and resources essential to Macalester’s educational program.
